    20When it was evening, he reclined at table with the twelve.Some manuscripts add disciples 21And as they were eating, he said, "Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me." 22And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another, "Is it I, Lord?" 23He answered, "He who has dipped his hand in the dish with me will betray me. 24The Son of Man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born." 25Judas, who would betray him, answered, "Is it I, Rabbi?" He said to him, "You have said so."

    Institution of the Lord's Supper

    26Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is my body." 27And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, "Drink of it, all of you, 28for this is my blood of theSome manuscripts insert new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom."

    Jesus Foretells Peter's Denial

    26And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 27And Jesus said to them, "You will all fall away, for it is written, 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.' 28But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee." 29Peter said to him, "Even though they all fall away, I will not." 30And Jesus said to him, "Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." 31But he said emphatically, "If I must die with you, I will not deny you." And they all said the same.

    Jesus Prays in Gethsemane

    32And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray." 33And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. 34And he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch."Or keep awake; also verses 37, 38 35And going a little farther, he fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. 36And he said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."

    Luke 22:43-46

    43And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. 44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.Some manuscripts omit verses 43 and 44 45And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow,

    46and he said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation."

    John 13:30

    30So, after receiving the morsel of bread, he immediately went out. And it was night.
