Please join us for an evening of Awareness and Protection Training with Kimberlee Norris, co-founder of MinistrySafe. Centered on sexual abuse awareness and prevention, this training event will present factual information and address commonly held misconceptions about abuse.
PCPC believes an essential step toward reducing the risk of child sexual abuse is to train staff and volunteers to understand and identify the problem. Staff members and volunteers are better equipped to recognize and prevent abuse when they are alert to the basic characteristics of an abuser, an abuser’s selection and grooming process, common grooming behaviors, and signs of abuse. Those in attendance will learn about responsibilities and legal obligations that arise upon discovery of suspicion of abuse.
PCPC requires all volunteers serving with or around children, youth, or vulnerable adults, in any programming, to undergo verification through our MinistrySafe Safety System. This system includes (i) training and a quiz, (ii) an application, and (iii) a Criminal Background Check. After attending this live-training event, attendees needing to renew or complete this requirement will be sent a link to a quiz from the event’s material. Completion of the quiz is needed to fulfill this training requirement.
Training is open not only to staff and volunteers serving children, youth, or vulnerable adults, but also to parents, lay members, and the general community. Training is also encouraged for volunteers even when training requirements are current.
Due to the sensitive nature of the topics that will be covered, we do not recommend bringing children to the program. Childcare will be available for children from 3 mos. – 5th grade under separate registration.
