Here’s what we know:
(11/03/25)
Both sides of Oak Lawn Ave in front of the church are now open! Construction continues south of the church.
(10/31/25)
Construction on Oak Lawn Ave is expected to be completed this week, just in time for our Glory & Goodness Global Missions Conference. Our entry to the parking lot and garage is open.
(10/30/25)
Today, we have limited, one-way access to the parking lot and garage. As you arrive, please turn on your turn signal so that the crew knows you want to enter. They will guide you as you enter and exit. The construction is nearing completion. Once again, parking behind Oak Lawn West is available, so if you choose to do so, please cross at the Wycliff crosswalk.
(10/29/25)
Currently, traffic is running north and south on Oak Lawn Ave (on the west side of the street). Our parking lot entrance this morning will only be open on the right side for entry and exit. Parking behind our Oak Lawn West building and crossing at the Wycliff intersection might be easier for entry and exit.
(10/28/25)
Southbound Oak Lawn Ave has one lane open. A northbound lane (on the west side of the street) will be open intermittently. If you are coming from the south, you will most likely have to take the detour route.
The bigger issue today is our entrance to the parking lot and garage. We will have access, but it is limited. There will be at least 2 workers helping direct cars in and out of the parking lot. If you would like, you can park behind Oak Lawn West and use the Wycliff crosswalk.
(10/24/25)
The construction crew plans to have the southbound side of Oak Lawn Ave completed today (Friday, Oct. 24) and begin northbound construction tomorrow (Saturday). The northbound side of Oak Lawn Ave will be closed.
All traffic will be diverted to the southbound side of Oak Lawn Ave, with one lane running north and one lane running south.
Since the northbound side will be closed, crossing the street will be hazardous. Based on the conditions on Sunday, we plan to have the PCPC crossing officers direct people to cross at the Wycliff Ave light, as we did last Sunday.
As for our parking lot entry, they plan to leave it untouched through Tuesday and begin demo and repair on Wednesday, keeping one half open at a time so we are never fully shut down.
The construction crew hopes to have the northbound side finished and open (pending weather) by Saturday, Nov. 1.
(10/23/25)
Southbound construction will be completed this week, reopening the southbound lanes and giving access to Oak Lawn West parking. Depending on the weather, they will then begin northbound construction. When northbound begins, only the right lane of traffic will be open. Lakeside Drive is unaffected, so if you can park and walk, that would be a good option on Sunday. Please allow for extra time when you come to church.
(10/20/25)
During the week, southbound Oak Lawn Ave is closed between Wycliff and Avondale. One lane of northbound traffic is open.
(10/16/25)
Road construction on Oak Lawn Ave will be in sections starting at Wycliff and heading south to Avondale. The construction work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
While they are working on the stretch between Wycliff and Avondale, southbound traffic will be detoured at Wycliff and forced to use Avondale (via Throckmorton, we believe). Work began Thursday, Oct. 16, in front of Oak Lawn West, and the parking spaces in front of OLW will be blocked for a few days.
The detour will not be in place on Sundays. For this Sunday, the spaces in front of Oak Lawn West will be closed, along with the right side, southbound lane of traffic. The left side, southbound lane, and turn lane will be open, along with both northbound lanes on Oak Lawn Ave.
We encourage you to adjust your route to church so that you enter from the south (Avondale, Irving, Blackburn, or Lemon to northbound Oak Lawn Ave). Please plan for additional time to park and exit.
We will communicate more as we learn more.
