In this episode on sexuality, our guest shares his story about being transgender and gay. Hear how he left all of that to pursue godliness. He shares his story of the ups and downs of his journey, especially as it relates to his faith and grief. As a counselor, he draws on his own experience to walk alongside those that are same-sex attracted as well as guiding parents who have a family member who is same-sex attracted. The Lord’s pursuit of him led him to find true rest in his loving Heavenly Father despite circumstances.
About the guest:
Jim Pocta has been married for 44 years to his wife Linda, is a father to three sons, and a grandfather to five. He is an elder at New St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church and is a therapist at Pocta Counseling where he specializes in working with those who struggle with gender and sexuality issues. He has a particular burden for hurting people and seeks to bring the balm of the Gospel into the shame and trauma they’ve experienced. He can be reached at Pocta Counseling at 469-261-3227.
About the host:
A graduate of Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mark Davis came to PCPC as our Youth Pastor in 2003 and became our Senior Pastor in 2009. He and his bride, Kristina, met at a Young Life Camp in 1988 and have five amazing kids, Kara (and husband, Drew), Madalyn (and husband, Jack), Cayden, Esther Kate, & Samuel.
