About the Episode:
Join us for a series on Rest in which we discuss what it means to take time to be still in a world that is so addicted to activity. We are going to talk about how rhythms of rest, stillness, and quiet can be a blessing in our lives. In this episode, Mark interviews Ed Jarrett and Bob McCamey about their journeys to faith through decades of highs and lows. They discuss the difference between physical rest and spiritual rest, making a practice of rest and peace, and finding prayer as a place to lay things down. Are your prayers primarily centered on informing God or listening to God? Tune in to learn about how we can abide in Him and give yourself the freedom to say no and say yes, the rhythm of life that God is leading you to.

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” -Psalm 139:23-24
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” -Joshua 1:8
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” -Psalm 46:10
“But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.” -Isaiah 64:6
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” -Revelation 3:20
“If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!” - John 15:7
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Your presence; take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and sustain me with a willing spirit.” -Psalm 51:10-12
“Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to listen to you rather than God. For we cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” -Acts 4:18-20
