God with Us: Advent 2020

Prince of Peace

What does Christmas have to do with peace? The first verse of Silent Night ends with these familiar words: “sleep in heavenly peace.” And yet the night that Jesus was born was anything but peaceful and silent. The shepherds were full of fear as the angels filled the sky and proclaimed peace on earth. When we think of peace, we often think about the absence of chaos and noise. But the peace that the angels promised was not about absence, it was true peace that only comes from the presence of God. Join us this week for the forth Sunday of Advent, and find out why Jesus is our Prince of Peace.

Invite friends and family to worship online with us at 9:00 or 11:00 a.m. at pcpc.org/live/, the PCPC App with iOS or Android device, Facebook, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku (search Park Cities Presbyterian), or Youtube.

Reserve Your Seat

Thank you for your continued help in keeping our Worship Services safe for our church family and community. We are excited to begin opening reservations on Monday mornings at 7:00 a.m. We do ask that you continue to arrive early, wear a mask/face covering while in the building, and maintain 6 feet of distance between parties. It is so good to gather each week and worship! Please reserve your seat at pcpc.org/reserve-seat/.

If you have experienced any COVID-like symptoms in the past 7 days or are uncomfortable with our safety protocols, we ask that you continue to worship with us online at pcpc.org/live/.

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.

Year End Giving

In order to comply with IRS regulations, Friday, Dec. 31, is the deadline for donations to be receipted for 2021. Other than offerings given in worship or online, you may mail checks postmarked by Friday, Dec. 31.

The offices will be closed from Dec. 24 through Jan. 2, but donations can be hand-delivered to the security guard at the south entrance from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays when the church offices are closed for the holidays. We also have a secure drop box outside the south entrance that can be used anytime.

For stock donation instructions, contact Cheli Conejo. Please note that mutual fund donations can take up to one month to process. Thank you for your generosity in supporting all that God is doing at PCPC.

Please note that although the December budget, representing 24% of our annual budget, is spread equally to each of the 4 weeks in December ($842,317 per week). Significant December contributions are not typically received until the last week of December, resulting in a large under budget variance during earlier weeks in December.
