Resources

Family worship resources available in PCPC bookstore and library.
Bibles
The starting place for family worship is the Word of God. Every family should have at least one copy. Ideally, it would be best for each member of the family to have his or her own personal copy. At PCPC, we use the English Standard Version of the Bible. Our bookstore has many different editions of the ESV available for purchase. Only three are mentioned here:
Storybook Bibles
Parents with children under age ten should consider having a good storybook Bible in the home. These Bibles condense and bring to life the story of the scriptures with pictures and child-friendly narratives.
For Parents and Children Together
There are many excellent books available in our bookstore designed for families to work through together. This is just a sampling of some of the good resources available. The ages listed under each book are meant to be general guidelines; each parent should look at the books carefully to see if they suit their children before purchasing.
Hymnals
The hymnal is the second most important book you can own other than the Bible. In it we have, as some have called it, “the history book of the church.” Paul teaches in Colossians 3:16 that singing is a way we “let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly.” Many of the best summaries of biblical teaching known to men are contained the stanzas of the hymns we sing.
Bible Study Resources
For those wanting to go deeper, or for anyone who needs to teach others, it is important to have reliable study aids. Here are a few available in our bookstore.
Family Worship Guides
The Family Worship Guides are available with the weekly Order of Worship. See the Order of Worship archives.
Daily Devotionals
Some may like to have a book containing brief daily Bible teaching which engages the heart. Here are some good examples in our bookstore. These are appropriate for teenagers through adults.
