Business as Mission in Cambodia
PCPC’s primary approach with Business as Mission in Cambodia has been through its involvement with Daughters of Cambodia. Daughters of Cambodia works to eradicate enslavement in the sex industry by offering to those trapped in it, opportunities to walk free and start a new life. Daughters’ operates a Center in the heart of an area of Phnom Penh brothels, where young women or young men wishing to leave sex work can start a new life, through employment in one of its 8 fair-trade businesses and a range of social and psychological services.
At Daughters, founded by Ruth Elliott in 2007, young girls and women are empowered through emotional and spiritual support. Additionally they receive education, job training, medical services and employment. Each young woman working in the sewing room makes her item from beginning to end providing her a new sense of confidence, success and dignity from its completion.
