Sermon on the Mount

Rock or Sand

In His final words in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus continues contrasting opposites, helping the listener discern whether they are truly in Christ or not. He speaks of the wise and the foolish builders, showing how closely they appear to be the same. There is one critical difference—the foundation. The foundation on the rock or on the sand compares what is ultimately true and stable and what will not last. In His grace, Jesus offers this warning and describes the life of one who is in Christ, listening to and obeying His words, with those who listen but don’t obey. This Sunday, we will examine how we can discern whether we are wise or foolish builders and how we can build our life on the assurance of the rock.

Invite friends and family to worship in-person with us at 8:00 (Chapel), 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. or online at pcpc.org/live/, the PCPC App with an iOS or Android device, Facebook, or YouTube.

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

Faith & Culture: Discovering How Science Points to God

Sunday, September 18
6:00 p.m.
PCPC Sanctuary

Our culture tells us that scientific evidence and faith in God are at odds, and this assumption can often cause doubt in our own hearts or anxiety over sharing our faith with others. During this special evening lecture, philosopher of science Dr. Stephen Meyer will encourage us with a series of revolutionary scientific discoveries in astronomy, physics, and biology that point to the reality of God.
