ESL at PCPC
Did you know that PCPC offers free English classes during the school year to reach our neighbors for Christ?
In the classrooms of PCPC beneath the Sanctuary, we host English classes and offer free childcare as a way to build community and relationships with people in order to point them to Jesus. Teaching English and caring for families through childcare has been a great opportunity to act as missionaries to them. And the Lord has blessed this ministry!
In fact, ESL at PCPC has grown significantly in recent years. Through word of mouth and the Lord’s providential guidance, our classes are full of eager learners. “A lot of people say, ‘my friend told me about ESL, and they had a great experience,’” said Paulina Ross, Ministry Leader of ESL at PCPC. “The Lord has been so faithful to send students to us at PCPC. We are tapping into a community around us that is very needy of the Word. They need Jesus! Since being here, I have seen that the harvest is ready, but the laborers are few. On average last fall, we had 58 students in the morning, and 92 in the evening. We had 41 children regularly attending childcare.”
Continuing this call to minister to the community, PCPC will offer ESL classes this fall. We are looking for volunteers with a heart to serve, teach English, and pray with and for the students for the sake of the gospel.
Consider volunteering once a week on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m., or Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The teaching commitment is for one day of the week during the school year (September–May). One-on-one training will be provided.
